Fifty Years of Northern Ireland’s Symphony Orchestra

The Ulster Orchestra’s 50th Anniversary Season has it all. Fourteen subscription concerts, ten tasty lunchtime menus, eight golden favourites and two very special celebration events – and that’s just in Belfast. As well as this the Orchestra will be performing ‘On Your Doorstep’ in communities throughout the region, all year long. There’s something for everyone!

Rafael Payare Extends Contract And Is Appointed Music Director

The Ulster Orchestra is delighted to announce that Chief Conductor Rafael Payare is to extend his contract and, in recognition of the valued and special relationship he has with the Orchestra, he will now take the title of Music Director. With the opening of the 2016/17 Season at the Ulster Hall on Friday 23 September, Maestro Payare began the final year of his initial three-year contract with the Orchestra and then, on the occasion of the Orchestra's 50th Birthday,  the conductor put pen to paper on a contract extension that had been eagerly hoped for by audiences and musicians alike. The Ulster Orchestra, Colin Neighbourhood Partnership and Shankill Children’s Zone are seeking experienced and qualified music tutors to be part of the pilot phase of an exciting new initiative. Inspired by the success of orchestra school partnerships in Glasgow (“Big Noise”) and Liverpool (“In Harmony”), the partners’ vision is to improve outcomes for children through music. The Ulster Orchestra at Culture Night 2016

Culture Night 2016 The Ulster Orchestra is delighted to be taking part in three different events in Belfast city centre on Friday 16 September, as part of Culture Night 2016. We kick off our participation in the festivities at Oh Yeah! Music Centre (on Gordon Street in the Cathedral Quarter) with a performance from one of our Ulster Orchestra string quartets, which starts at 4:30pm.
