Let’s Play!

The Ulster Orchestra is ready to play and its exciting new Season of concerts is on sale now! This season sees the core subscription series increase to 16 concerts, a series of Pops concerts in Belfast Waterfront and the introduction of a brand new Festive mini-series, along with the return of the 9-concert JTI Lunchtime Series – and that’s just in Belfast. As well as this the Orchestra will be performing ‘On Your Doorstep’ in communities throughout the region, all year long. There’s something for everyone!

Stephen Peover appointed as Chairman of Ulster Orchestra

New Chairman succeeds Sir George Bain Stephen Peover was elected yesterday as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ulster Orchestra, succeeding Sir George Bain who has retired after five years of highly dedicated service in the post. Stephen’s appointment comes at a historic and significant period in the Ulster Orchestra’s half-century of music-making in Northern Ireland. The Orchestra is midway through its critically acclaimed 50th Anniversary Season and is enjoying a period of management stability and growth in its audience and supporter base. Ulster Orchestra’s Big Give Christmas Challenge 2016

The Ulster Orchestra has been working with the Alzheimer’s Society UK and its work is demonstrably helping to support and lift those who are affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias in Northern Ireland. This year the Orchestra is taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2016, with a challenge to raise £15,000 from supporters this Christmas. If successful, Big Give Challenge partners will DOUBLE this amount to £30,000 - the amount needed to run this powerful musical work with the Alzheimer's Society. Rafael Payare Extends Contract And Is Appointed Music Director

The Ulster Orchestra is delighted to announce that Chief Conductor Rafael Payare is to extend his contract and, in recognition of the valued and special relationship he has with the Orchestra, he will now take the title of Music Director. With the opening of the 2016/17 Season at the Ulster Hall on Friday 23 September, Maestro Payare began the final year of his initial three-year contract with the Orchestra and then, on the occasion of the Orchestra's 50th Birthday,  the conductor put pen to paper on a contract extension that had been eagerly hoped for by audiences and musicians alike.
