The Ulster Orchestra is ready to play and its exciting new Season of concerts is on sale now! This season sees the core subscription series increase to 16 concerts, a series of Pops concerts in Belfast Waterfront and the introduction of a brand new Festive mini-series, along with the return of the 9-concert JTI Lunchtime Series – and that’s just in Belfast. As well as this the Orchestra will be performing ‘On Your Doorstep’ in communities throughout the region, all year long. There’s something for everyone!

Rafael Payare Extends Contract And Is Appointed Music Director

The Ulster Orchestra is delighted to announce that Chief Conductor Rafael Payare is to extend his contract and, in recognition of the valued and special relationship he has with the Orchestra, he will now take the title of Music Director. With the opening of the 2016/17 Season at the Ulster Hall on Friday 23 September, Maestro Payare began the final year of his initial three-year contract with the Orchestra and then, on the occasion of the Orchestra's 50th Birthday,  the conductor put pen to paper on a contract extension that had been eagerly hoped for by audiences and musicians alike. Celebrating 50 Years with 50 Concerts in a Day!

Wednesday 28 September was the Ulster Orchestra’s 50th Birthday and we celebrated with an incredible fifty pop-up performances in a variety of locations across Belfast, all in just one day, from 8am-11.45pm! The Ulster Orchestra, Colin Neighbourhood Partnership and Shankill Children’s Zone are seeking experienced and qualified music tutors to be part of the pilot phase of an exciting new initiative. Inspired by the success of orchestra school partnerships in Glasgow (“Big Noise”) and Liverpool (“In Harmony”), the partners’ vision is to improve outcomes for children through music.
