Take a step out of the every day and visit worlds of the imagination. In Ravelโs Ma mรจre l’oye, we look into the world of much-loved fairy tales such as Beauty and the Beast and Tom Thumb. Michael Gallenโs Bรกd on Alltรกr, which translates as โBoat From Beyondโ, is a fusion of Irish Traditional and classical musics drawing on the Celtic idea of the โthin veilโ between reality and the otherworld, bringing something new and previously unimagined to change our lives. Kenneth Heskethโs arrangement of Lili Boulangerโs Three Pieces for Piano takes us to two imagined gardens and a cheerful parade, while Debussyโs Nocturnes evocatively depict the procession of clouds across the sky, the bustle of a festival and the sea-songs of the mythical sirens, all inspired by paintings by James McNeill Whistler.
