Rachmaninoffโ€™s Symphonic Dances, his final work, brings this concert to a blazing and triumphant close. Sweeping, nostalgic and ultimately triumphant, it ends in a radiant Alleluia โ€” a powerful farewell and affirmation of life.

Around it, music of shifting light and deep introspection unfolds. Grace-Evangeline Masonโ€™s An Everywhere of Silver, inspired by Emily Dickinson, shimmers with oceanic colour and fragile brilliance. Dmitri Shostakovichโ€™s Second Cello Concerto, performed by Jaemin Han, is spare, searching and intensely personal, building to moments of sudden, overwhelming power.
