Berlioz Harold in Italy Elgar In the South Respighi Pines of Rome DANIELE RUSTIONI CONDUCTOR TIMOTHY RIDOUT VIOLA This gorgeous Season draws to a close with Music Director Daniele Rustioni acting as tour guide for a musical visit to Italy. Byron’s Childe Harold inspires the first two works in this concert, with violist Timothy Ridout taking on the role of Harold in Berlioz’s Harold in Italy, observing the changing Italian scenes around him in music that is joyful and stirring. Elgar’s In the South brings a little romantic melancholy and stormy drama to proceedings, while Respighi’s Pines of Rome conveys the light and shade of the trees in various locations around the Eternal City – you’ll sense the warmth of the sun on your skin as we reach our final destination of the Appian Way! This is the perfect way to say ‘ciao!’ to the 2022/23 Season. The Ulster/Waterfront Halls offer guidance, in order to keep your visit as COVID-safe as possible.
