A trip to the Lir Festival is fast becoming a favourite fixture in the Ulster Orchestraโs calendar, and they are delighted to return to Ballycastle once again.
Orchestra Leader Ioana Petcu-Colan will be at the helm as small ensembles from across the Orchestra perform a selection of music from across the ages, including Tchaikovskyโs joyous tribute to a favourite city inย Souvenir deย Florenceย and Dvoลรกkโs vibrant, drivingย Slavonic Dances.ย And the Orchestra shines the spotlight on the unjustly neglected French composer Louise Farrenc, performing her richly melodic Nonet for strings and wind.ย
Students in full-time education and 18-and-unders attend for free; they must have tickets, so book free on Eventbrite (Student Gen. Ad.).
The LIR Arts Festival will be donating a portion of the ticket sales proceeds to help defray the costs of the Ulster Orchestra-led workshops at Ballycastle schools.
