On Your Doorstep: Ballycastle (Lir Arts Festival)

Ulster Orchestra’s third annual concert in Ballycastle’s St. Patrick’s and St.Brigid’s Church
Conductor

A trip to the Lir Festival is fast becoming a favourite fixture in the Ulster Orchestraโ€™s calendar, and they are delighted to return to Ballycastle once again.

Orchestra Leader Ioana Petcu-Colan will be at the helm as small ensembles from across the Orchestra perform a selection of music from across the ages, including Tchaikovskyโ€™s joyous tribute to a favourite city inย Souvenir deย Florenceย and Dvoล™รกkโ€™s vibrant, drivingย Slavonic Dances.ย And the Orchestra shines the spotlight on the unjustly neglected French composer Louise Farrenc, performing her richly melodic Nonet for strings and wind.ย

Students in full-time education and 18-and-unders attend for free; they must have tickets, so book free on Eventbrite (Student Gen. Ad.).

The LIR Arts Festival will be donating a portion of the ticket sales proceeds to help defray the costs of the Ulster Orchestra-led workshops at Ballycastle schools.
