The performance of Humperdinck’s richly evocative music from his opera Hansel & Gretel is a German Christmas tradition, while Tchaikovsky’s suite from the ballet The Sleeping Beauty is a shimmering, magical depiction of good and evil fairies, Puss in Boots and the slumbering Princess Aurora.
