Francesa Dego Violin

Busoni Overture: Lustspeil
Mozart Violin Concerto No.3
Schubert Symphony No.9 Great

The Ulster Orchestra brings you Mozart’s beautiful Strassburg Concerto – the Strassburger being a popular folk tune which inspires the closing Rondo. His prodigious invention, which runs throughout and the second movement, was described by eminent Mozart scholar Alfred Einstein as ‘an Adagio that seems to have fallen straight from heaven’.

The concerto is paired with Schubert’s Symphony No.9, nicknamed ‘The Great’. This is writing with the sort of ambition and scale that only Beethoven rivalled at the time – the overall effect is like walking through a vast landscape and, despite that mistranslation, by its end it’s well and truly earned the nickname ‘Great’. Join star violinist Francesca Dego, conductor Daniele Rustioni and the Ulster Orchestra for an evening of wonderful music.
