Title:                      Section Leader Viola

The Ulster Orchestra is seeking to appoint a Section Leader to its Viola section.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have excellent solo and orchestral playing abilities, and a commitment to delivering a high standard of work
  • demonstrate excellent leadership skills
  • actively develop and support positive working relationships with other members of the orchestra, including the administration, the section, and any freelance players
  • have excellent communication and organisational skills

In addition to leading and managing the section, attending auditions and sitting on appointment panels, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a range of chamber music playing, and Learning and Community Engagement activity as part of the annual work commitment.

The Ulster Orchestra is seeking to appoint three tutti violins; there are positions available in the 1st and 2nd violin sections.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have excellent solo and orchestral playing abilities and a commitment to delivering a high standard of work
  • demonstrate excellence in section playing
  • actively develop and support positive working relationships with other members of the orchestra, including the administration, the section and any freelance players
  • have excellent communication skills
In addition to orchestral work, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to select work from a range of non-platform activities, to be delivered as part of their annual work commitment. These include a wide range of Learning and Community Engagement activity and chamber music playing. Opportunities exist for players to create and lead their own non-orchestral activity.
