Learning, Community & Engagement

The Ulster Orchestra’s Learning and Community Engagement programme helps us to achieve our vision of enriching lives through music. Since 2016, all of our musicians have been delivering outreach and education activity as part of their orchestral schedule – the only symphony orchestra in the UK to work in this way.

Who We Are

Founded in 1966, the Ulster Orchestra has been at the forefront of musical life in Northern Ireland and the Orchestra’s full-time musicians form the region’s only professional symphony orchestra.

The Orchestra has a distinguished line of past principal conductors including Bryden Thomson, Vernon Handley, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Dimitry Sitkovetsky, Thierry Fischer, Kenneth Montgomery, JoAnn Faletta, Rafael Payare and, most recently, Daniele Rustioni.
