100 Musicians and Shostakovich No.4

Experience the Biggest Band this Season with Guest Musicians from 12 European Orchestras.

We're thrilled to be able to put together the biggest orchestra this season for Shostakovich's Symphony No.4.  We will be joined by guest musicans from 12 European orchestras to perform this grandoise, yet ambigous masterpiece.

Symphony No.4 was incomplete when Shostakovich was denounced by Pravda and was subsequently buried by the composer as it deviated far from the glorious Soviet ideal. Instead he put his efforts into the Fifth Symphony and would not perform the offending piece until well after the death of Stalin.

Considered one of Shostakovich's most important and personal works, the sheer scale and complexity of the piece requires over a hundred musicans - as a consequence it is rarely performed. Don't miss your chance to catch the Orchestra's biggest undertaking of the season!
