Statement from Auveen Sands, Chief Executive Officer, Ulster Orchestra
It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that our friend and colleague Michele Strong has passed away.
Michele was Sub-Principal Double Bass for over 37 years with the Ulster Orchestra. Michele will be sorely missed, not only as a valued member of the Orchestra, but also in her outstanding work for Crescendo and her commitment to numerous committees within the Ulster Orchestra, as well as to her local community and the Green Party. Above all, we will miss Michele because she was such a lovely person whose contribution was never-ending.
Our hearts go out to Michele’s partner Kevin, her family and her friends at this devastating time.

On Friday 27 January, as part of our ‘Scent of the First Snow’ concert, we will pay tribute to our dear friend and colleague Michele Strong, who passed away in December. The orchestra will play Le jardin féerique from Ravel’s Mother Goose at the beginning of the second half of the concert. We hope you will be able to join us to remember Michele.
