Ulster Orchestra Launches #UOYourSongNow

In this strange new world, we are all missing performing and creating music together.

Yet, this unique time has created a melting pot for creativity across our country – creativity that cannot be contained.

We want to challenge you to create new songs; songs of this time and place. Songs we can play together with you.

Our fabulous mentor panel includes artists Duke Special and Kitt Philippa, along with arranger/conductor Paul Campbell. They will be listening to your songs and picking their favourites. If chosen, one of the panel will work with you on your song, culminating in the  recording of a brand new arrangement of it, which will be performed with members of the Ulster Orchestra.

Your song should be something new – either something that you’ve been working on recently, or something that you have been moved to write in response to this invitation.

Here’s how:

1. SHOOT A VIDEO OF YOUR SONG

• You will need a phone, tablet or laptop with webcam to record the pictures and sound (this can be with the phone mic or an external mic)
• Film inside in a well-lit room during the day
• Shoot in landscape aspect – i.e. with the camera on its side, so as the shot is wider than it is tall

2. SEND US YOUR FOOTAGE*

Upload your video to YouTube before midnight on Sunday 31 May 2020 with the hashtag #UOYourSongNow and send an email to [email protected] with:

• Your name
• Your contact telephone number
• Where you are from
• A YouTube link to your video
