Relaxed Performances
Overview
Relaxed Performances are accessible performances by full orchestra, designed for people with additional needs and their families.
Since 2017, we have worked in partnership with organisations including Autism NI and the Now Group to devise presented concerts which bring the joy of live orchestral music to everyone.
Ulster Orchestra relaxed performances are a safe and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
It was beautiful to listen to and was totally tailored to suit the needs of our pupils. Well done Ulster Orchestra.
โฆ by far miles ahead of any autism friendly event weโve previously attended.
We were all somewhere safe as a family, no judgemental glances. In terms of autism friendly this event by far blew any others away. We as a family would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment, understanding, dedication and talents in allowing us to be part of this very special day that we all will remember for very long time. You completely excelled our expectations.
Access Consultation Groupย
Ulster Orchestra now seeks to form an Access Consultation Group with the hope of forming a network which seeks to elevate the cultural experiences offered to those with additional needs and their families by using peer learning to widen access.
Through the consultation group and network, members will gain from expert knowledge, first-hand experience, and peer learning. All with an aim of providing accessible and engaging events such as relaxed performances, quiet mornings and sensory days for those who may ordinarily face barriers to such experiences
If you are an organisation or company keen to create new, or build on your current access events, and are interested in joining the Access Consultation Group, please contact [email protected] for more information
From entry we were greeted with smiling faces. There was plenty of space for the kids to either take a seat or sit on the mats. The story started and then the music. I was blown away, such talent and understanding. I found myself becoming emotional for a number of reasons. Watching the childrenโs faces and reactions, walking around, making noises, stimming, spinning, flapping etc the enjoyment, acceptance and inclusivity it gave them and us all had me close to tears of joy.
